Greetings Mates,.. I was just thinking of a option I would love to see in the game,..
ever wonder who is the Captain on a ship ...? Especially if you are boarding public accessable Ships.

When one is out on their own ship, and like the Crew Icon is above their name, how about along side of the name
a Captain's insignia and First Mate's insignia..? This, of course would only be while Captaining their own Ship and
only while on their ship.
The Captain would be able to pick and choose his First Mate,
this would be added into the sailing box options next to boarding permissions.
According to the Pirates Code (guidelines) Book, the Captain always recieves 2 shares of a prize, and the
Quartermaster (or First Mate in this case) shall recieve 1 and 3/4 shares, just under the Captain, so,
naturally, this would reflect the gold distribution accordingly when we port after a raid.

Perhaps this is how this could appear....

OOOOh yes!! What a great idea, then when* the captain gets disconnected, ships rights pass to the first mate, saving ship, crew and the gold.

* meant 'if'

   We can get disconnected???

I like the idea, I would also like that the first mate would have the opportunity to "push" away any other crew member from the ship wheel... in the unfortunate and very rare event of disconnection :sail1:

:ahoy: Great Option, would lessen the confusion on many a occassion and offer incentive to assist in leading as a first mate.
good idea, suppose your entitled to one or two!

Good ideas , especially Rosa's comment on First mate being able to retake the wheel.

I agree, good idea. I have seen Captain of the ship used not only as the owner of the ship, but also as the person steering, whether or not they own the ship. It would be great if the First Mate would have crewing rights too. It can be difficult in the middle of battle to steer and crew at the same time. I have also seen the Captain elected by the crew, and that is not necessarily onboard a ship.

i agree also with this idea and if the captain of the crew gets disconnected and the person that he makes first mate takes the wheel to get crew to safety after big battle and docks safely the first mate should be able to fix the captains ship so the captain dont have to and the gold that he woould normaly lose he would still get

So many times, we have a great crew when the crewer logs off or disconnects and then crewing rights are passed to a random person that was crewed and who may not even be with the group, making it difficult to get more people crewed. If the Captain was the crewer, then when disconnecting, either accidentally or intentionally, crewing rights could be passed to the first mate rather than the highest level in the crew. If the Captain returned quickly, crewing rights could be returned (maybe that's asking for too much).

Looks like I'm with the majority on this! I especially like the idea of designating a first mate who can crew and take the wheel.

But what I would really like is for the Captain (or first mate) to be able to ditch the deadweight :thumb_walk_plank: (like the boot in PvP ships). Nothing more annoying than to have empty cannon and 3 low level pirates surrounding you at the wheel asking to drive the ship when a Warlord pops back in on your aft!

Good topic and idea.

Something I had seen before was the naming of a first mate on a ship crew before sailing - so should a captain be booted - then the crew knew who was in charge.

technically, you're not a captain though - since you can lead a crew on land as well. But the C works in either case.

Great idea, but how about have the insignia above the crew symbol?
